L.A.G. January 2011 Outing

So I just got home from our team's January 2011 caching run. I picked up TheBaers this morning and we drove out to DeKalb to pick up Baloo&bd. From there we drove out to Lasalle/Peru, IL. That was 100 miles to our first cache of the day. I'll just offer the summary here and perhaps tell the stories later. We ended up with 52 finds in about 9.5 hours of Geocaching (that's not counting the time over our lunch break). That's a very good day and I believe it is my personal best day. Door to door today, with travel, meals and caching, it was 16.5 hours and 280 miles. A few highlights:

* We logged several high difficulty caches today. There was one on something of a cliff. That one was a DNF, but we were there 25 mins before we decided to chase others before we ran out of daylight and come back when the snow is gone.

* I came home with a "Marvin the Martian" travel bug. I'll show it to my daughter tomorrow. We have some "Marvin" memories from years back and this TB will bring some smiles.

* One annoying bit of car trouble late in the afternoon. We got through it, but my car will need to visit the shop this week. ARGH!

* This was the first time that we got through all the caches on the route that we had planned for our day. Granted there were a few DNFs, but we ran out of route before we ran out of day today. Nice navigating Baloo!

Once I log all these (not tonight), I will have over 900 cache finds logged.

A very Good Day!
